Soering News Roundup: Am I a Secret Nazi? The Answer Will Shock You!
Soering appears on a celebrity news show with me (not at the same time), answers tame questions, continues to refuse new DNA tests
First, the tiresome but obligatory book plug: My new book “Martyr or Murderer? Jens Soering, the Media, and the Truth” is available on Kindle and in print anywhere there’s Amazon. As you can see, it’s getting great customer reviews — people are finding it more exciting than they anticipated. And yes, German readers, I am working my butt off on a German translation — please be patient.
Now updates from the Soering universe:
Item I: Soering Tells “Prominent!” I Admire Adolf Hitler
Both I and Jens Soering appeared in an 8-minute featurette on the show called “Prominent!” from the German private TV channel RTL. It was broadcast on November 19. Prominent! is a somewhat trashy celebrity gossip show, but I was happy to give an interview on November17th because the producers had already interviewed Soering two days earlier.
I can’t embed the clip because RTL doesn’t play that way.
However, I learned interesting tidbits from the experience. First, in his interview in Hamburg on the 15th of November, Soering finally spoke my surname aloud in public for the first time! As we all know, Soering has never been able to let my name cross his lips in public, alternatively identifying me as the “Texan blogger”, the “translator from Düsseldorf”, and most recently in local Virginia news, the “weird, chubby guy” who appeared in the Netflix series.
But he did speak my name to RTL, in the course of asking why anyone would believe me. He also told the RTL interviewer that he thought I admired Adolf Hitler. That’s based on a ploddingly literal interpretation of a few jokes and news articles I’ve linked to. There’s an anonymous troll online who keeps screen-capping these posts and claiming they show I like Hitler. This troll has even attacked Dr. Alice Brauner, co-producer of the podcast “The Soering System” and recent German documentaries, for working with someone (me) who admires Adolf Hitler. Revolting stuff.
So far, the lawyers, investigators, and IT specialists researching this anonymous troll have assumed it must be one of Soering’s dumber fans. However, two recent events have convinced me either that Soering is this online troll, or at least adopted the troll’s memes as his own.
First is what RTL told me: On 15 November 2023, Soering told RTL reporters that I might be a secret supporter of Adolf Hitler. Peculiar.
The second is an email Soering sent to supporters in mid-2023. In this email, Soering made the same arguments and screenshotted the same tweets the anonymous troll has done in public.
In the email, Soering writes: “Here is a tweet in which he [Hammel] wrote that he wanted to defend both Adolph Hitler and Joseph Goebbels against false accusations. Again, these are his own words:” Wait, what? How can Soering not know how Adolf Hitler’s name is spelled? He also linked to a tweet in which I linked to a news article about how popular Hitler is in India: “Why is Hitler so popular in India? https://t.co/f8BIEF5WDe.” The link is to a news article about…why Hitler is so popular in India.
So is the anonymous troll who claims I like Hitler Jens Soering? Or just some deluded follower whose stupid accusations Soering has made his own? We’ll see what the courts say.
The other highlights from the Prominent! interview are Söring describing his new audiobook Love, Sex and Murder?. Soering describes this book as an account of the relationship between himself and Elizabeth Haysom from 40 years ago. I am quoted as saying that Soering quotes from extremely graphic, explicit sexual fantasies (mostly from Elizabeth) in this book, which I found tasteless and exploitative. I also wonder why Soering is still so obsessed over a relationship which ended over three decades ago, with a woman he will never see again.
The final highlight from this interview is a segment in which Soering says that he was never permitted to have a guitar in prison, but that he had finally taken it up again. (After four years in freedom in a country which has guitar stores in every town). As he describes playing the Beatles song “Blackbird”, he tells the interviewer it is about a bird whose wing has broken, but learns to fly again. He almost tears up:
In another part of the clip, Soering is being filmed on a random street in Hamburg and a woman recognizes him. His face lights up with joy:
Item 2: Soering Continues to Refuse DNA Testing
A reporter from the local Lynchburg, Virginia TV station, Noreen Tyrun, who just broadcast a 1-hour interview with Soering, just released a new feature on Soering’s continuing refusal to agree to new DNA tests:
Item 3: Soering is Interrogated by the Spanish Inquisition (Monty Python Version)
Trigger warning: In this shocking archival footage, the Spanish Inquisition interrogates an “old woman” with the “soft cushions” and the “comfy chair”:
Jens Soering suffered a similar tragic fate at the hands of Judge Ralph Guise-Rübe. Here are the two videos of his ““cross-examination””, in English and German. Soering has disabled embeds for these videos (wise move!) but you can watch them here.
More to come, stay tuned!
“We’ll see what the courts say.”
