I am tired of hearing/watching documentaries just discussing the verdict version (Soering = single killer) contra Soering's version (Haysom + X). With a contribution of Small Town Big Crime I hope that there will be enough substance and courage to state out the more likely version (2 killers who unfortunately never had shared the bench in front of a jury!).

For those who listen to German podcasts:

ARD’s podcast “Die Spur der Täter“ announced an episode about Söring for October 31st.

The announcement in the current episode sounds fair and objective.

Just out of curiosity: The photo from the Netflix page that is also being used here, is photoshopped, is it not? Those two never sat next to each other in the courtroom, did they?

Arctic Warrior--Yes, you are right, that photo is photoshopped. Her image here has been removed from a photo of her sitting between her lawyers at her October,1987, sentencing hearing at Bedford. (Note the sweater, it's fall.) The image of Jens is taken from his trial in 1990. They were never together in court in the US, but in England, when they were arraigned on fraud charges in Magistrates' court at Richmond, I think that they may have sat together side by side. I don't think that they were required to stand there.

Of course any book like this will is a hostage to fortune. If clear evidence of Söring's innocence ever appears, I will indeed look like a mug. Fortunately for me, no evidence of Söring's innocence ever will appear, and the book makes clear why that is the case. You get a pretty good feel for the case after you've read all 500 pages of Jens Söring's confessions (full of things he couldn't have learned second-hand) and the 6000 pages of his and Haysom's trials.

But if you think my staking my reputation on Söring's guilt -- after five years of research -- isn't enough, Let's make this interesting. I will bet you €5,000 that no evidence of Söring's innocence will appear in the next 10 years. We can agree on a neutral arbiter who will judge the issue. If I win, you lose nothing. If you win, I pay you €5000. I am 100% serious about this, we can put it in writing.

What do you say?

As he urgently needs money and his appeal for donations isn't going so well, S. could make an offer here 😉
